Venue Hunting: Successful ! :D

Today Mr Karthi, Amirul and I went to hunt for venues for our upcoming event on tentatively 8th May 2009. We met up in Gurney Plaza at 6 pm and Mr Karthi brought us in his car to check out few places that we have in our minds for our event. First, we went to check out Golden Sands Resort. It wasn't really appealing and they don't even have brochures for the function rooms reservation. After that, we headed to Holiday Inn. We didn't get to know much as well because the person in charge went back home since the office hour has ended. Since Park Royal is just opposite Holiday Inn, we walked to Park Royal and checked out the place. Park Royal actually has a good place for our event, and they're management are pretty good. We were actually pretty impressed. Our next location was Sunset Bistro. I just wanted to show orang tua (this is a nickname I gave to Mr Karthi :) where Sunset Bistro is since him, being an orang tua doesn't know where is it when it is a famous place to santai in Penang! We had pretty good negotiations with the manager of the place.

Now, here comes the exciting part. After Sunset Bistro, we actually intended to stop our hunting activity but all of us agreed to have our last stop in Tanjung Bungah Hotel. When we walked in, they were having a snake show at the lobby. So we watched for awhile till the show was finished then we started asking bout the informations from the front office. The front office called a sales & marketing coordinator to entertain us. Her name is Ms Melati Ibrahim. We thought we would just get the usual treatment like we had at the previous hotels; the typical stand infront of the grumpy receptionist and discuss bout the informations. But, we were totally wrong!

Ms Melati actually offered us to sit at the restaurant and asked us to order any drinks from the menu and it was on the house! I had blended ice coffee, Amirul had Coke, Mr Karthi & Ms Melati had orange juice. The chef even gave us a light appetizer each and it was also on the house! :)) We discussed bout our event and we had an informal chat with Ms Melati. She was really friendly, polite and approachable. All of us felt comfortable talking to her. We didn't only talk about our event, but we also talked bout general things and joked around. She talked to me bout her experiences when she was studying performance and media in UITM Shah Alam. How is the campus, facilities, lecturers, courses and all that. Amirul was acting rather weird, for whatever reason I don't know. Maybe malu kot with Ms Melati since she is cute and sweet looking, lmao. And plus, Ms Melati said that he is cute. I was like "are you sure??" :O ROFLL.

Orang tua treated us the buffet for our dinner tonight. I was really shocked, I thought he was joking. And the food was good! We actually planned to be done with our venue hunting at 8 pm since Mr Karthi has a plan after that but we ended up chatting with Ms Melati until 10.30 pm! Our Earth Hour was rather fun and interesting. :)) We managed to see the ballrooms/function rooms and also the outdoor space for our event to be held. All three of us agreed that Tanjung Bungah Hotel has the best hospitality and service compared to other hotels that we checked out! Plus, the prices are affordable. As the event manager, I honestly feel happy and satisfied with our venue. Hopefully, everything goes well, InsyaAllah. :)

Kepada orang tua, thank you for making up time for us, thank you for your support, thank you for everything! You're the best!
(Ini bukan satu pembodekan, it came sincerely from the heart :)
